What are hazard alarm systems?

Hazard alarm systems (HAS) is a collective term for all types of alarm systems that are capable of independently recognizing dangers or reporting them via telecommunication technology. They are used to reliably warn and thus protect people and property against dangers such as intrusion, fire and robbery.

The term hazard alarm systems (HAS) includes the following types of systems, among others:

A number of VdS and DIN regulations must be observed for the installation and operation of HAS. If VdS certified systems are to be operated, these systems must be type-approved and may only be installed and maintained by VdS-approved installers.

Why are hazard alarm systems important?

  • Early detection of fires: Fire alarm systems are equipped with various sensors and detectors that react to smoke, heat or flames, for example. They recognize fires in their early stages, even before they develop into a life-threatening danger.
  • Protection against intrusions and robberies: by deterring and alerting people in the immediate vicinity
  • Rapid alerting: As soon as a threat is detected, both the fire alarm system and the intruder detection system immediately trigger an alarm. This enables the fire brigade, police and other emergency services to be notified quickly, thus drastically reducing the response time.
  • Protection of human life: The most important aspect of HAS is the protection of human life. They enable the occupants or employees of a building to get to safety in good time if a fire breaks out or an attack is imminent.
  • Protection of property: Alarm systems not only help to protect human life, but also buildings and assets. A quick response can often minimize damage to property.
