Data Centre World 2024: Trade fair review

Under the umbrella of VIRZ e.V., we once again took part in this year's Data Centre World together with five other partner companies. At our representative stand, we not only welcomed numerous visitors, but were also able to share our expertise in a keynote speech.

Our logistics have been awarded the CO2 seal

We are very delighted, that we have been awarded the CO2 seal by our partner This seal certifies a number of environmental improvements that we have been able to achieve with the help of the company's baling presses. In this way, we can make our contribution to increasing the recycling rate and reducing our CO2 footprint.


Industrial partnership between the EU and Norway: New battery raw materials agreement signed

The EU and the Kingdom of Norway agreed the Green Alliance back in April 2023. Around a year later, they have now agreed on a strategic partnership for raw materials and battery value chains. The cooperation defined in the declaration of intent covers five areas.


Electromobility in shipping - on the way to a green future?

Electric driving: What has long since arrived in the automotive industry is far from established in aviation and shipping. Although it has long been known that cruises and container ships have enormous CO2 emissions, shipping is still a long way from being environmentally friendly. The calcium-air battery: a sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries?

Lithium-ion batteries offer enormous advantages thanks to their high energy density and long service life and are therefore widely used worldwide. However, they are repeatedly criticized, particularly due to the scarcity of raw materials, which are difficult to recycle. The search for alternatives is therefore omnipresent. Battery technology is booming: number of patent applications on the rise again

Last year, the number of patent applications at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office rose significantly. Compared to the previous year, there was an increase in applications in the battery sector in particular - a further sign that electromobility is booming.


Wind power expansion in Europe: the long road to achieving the targets

Europe has been steadily expanding the wind energy sector for more than a decade. In 2023, the EU was able to almost double the total output of new turbines compared to previous years. An important step towards the climate and energy targets, but the latest figures from the industry association WindEurope also show that there is still room for improvement in some areas.

Our new front terminal batteries in the LEOCH Pure Lead PLH Long Life series have been specially designed for applications that - under demanding conditions - require a high discharge rate over a short period of time and a long service life (20 years).

Northvolt builds battery plant in Schleswig-Holstein: EU approves 902 million euros in aid

Clear sailing for Northvolt: The Swedish battery manufacturer is building its first German battery plant in Schleswig-Holstein near Heide. A total of 4.5 billion euros is to be invested over the next few years.


EU: New charging point regulation coming in April

From April 2024, changes for charging electric cars will come into force across the EU. The changes will affect the payment functions at charging points in particular and are likely to result in additional costs for consumers.

Our new, fully insulated rigid block connectors and flexible row and level connectors as well as end arresters are now available in our store. Quick and easy installation and secure connection technology are just some of the advantages.


New early warning system for electric car batteries strikes much faster

A new early warning system for electric car batteries is currently under development. It should make it easier to avoid a total loss. The idea is to measure and analyze the electrical alternating current resistance - the impedance - in the cell. The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing is working on the system together with the Regensburg-based automotive supplier Vitesco Technologies.


New super battery with twice the energy density to power electric aircraft

With an energy density of 500 watt hours per kilogram, the new battery from CATL should be able to power electric aircraft. Current top batteries rarely have values of 300 watt hours per kilogram. The development of passenger aircraft is already in progress. The automotive industry can also benefit from this innovation.


Wind turbine taller than the Eiffel Tower

A major project in the wind power industry. The Chinese company Mingyang is planning a wind turbine that will be taller than the Eiffel Tower. With an output of 22 megawatts, the planned turbine is far ahead of its competitors. The giant wind turbine is scheduled to be built as early as 2024.

Chip factory as Dresden joint venture

A chip factory will soon be built in Dresden to supply the automotive industry. The initiator is the Taiwanese chip specialist TSMC. It is supported by well-known industrial partners from the relevant sectors: Bosch, Infineon and NXP. The project is being funded by the German government with up to 5 billion euros.


Up to 80% in 10 minutes: Battery with Turbo charging speed presented

Soon it will no longer be a dream of the future: At the end of the year, CATL, the largest Chinese producer of lithium-ion batteries, will begin series production of the so-called Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery. It is expected to be on the road in electric cars as early as next year.

Market for electronic security technology with record sales

In 2022, the market for electronic security technology in Germany recorded an increase in turnover of 5.2 percent, reaching a record turnover of around 5.2 billion euros for the first time.


Electricity consumption covered to over 50 per cent by sustainable energies

According to data from the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) and the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), approximately 52 percent of Germany's gross domestic electricity consumption came from sustainable sources in the first half of 2023.


Dynamic growth of the German battery market

The German battery market continues to grow strongly. In 2022, the market recorded an impressive increase of more than 6.2 billion euros (+62 %) to around 16.34 billion euros. Sales of lithium-ion batteries were again the main driver of this growth, amounting to 11.6 billion euros.
