Under the umbrella of VIRZ e.V., we once again took part in this year's Data Centre World together with five other partner companies. At our representative stand, we not only welcomed numerous visitors, but were also able to share our expertise in a keynote speech.

We are very delighted, that we have been awarded the CO2 seal by our partner wirkaufendeinenabfall.de. This seal certifies a number of environmental improvements that we have been able to achieve with the help of the company's baling presses. In this way, we can make our contribution to increasing the recycling rate and reducing our CO2 footprint.
The EU and the Kingdom of Norway agreed the Green Alliance back in April 2023. Around a year later, they have now agreed on a strategic partnership for raw materials and battery value chains. The cooperation defined in the declaration of intent covers five areas.
Electric driving: What has long since arrived in the automotive industry is far from established in aviation and shipping. Europe has been steadily expanding the wind energy sector for more than a decade. In 2023, the EU was able to almost double the total output of new turbines compared to previous years. A new early warning system for electric car batteries is currently under development. It should make it easier to avoid a total loss. The idea is to measure and analyze the electrical alternating current resistance - the impedance - in the cell. The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing is working on the system together with the Regensburg-based automotive supplier Vitesco Technologies.
With an energy density of 500 watt hours per kilogram, the new battery from CATL should be able to power electric aircraft. Current top batteries rarely have values of 300 watt hours per kilogram. The development of passenger aircraft is already in progress. The automotive industry can also benefit from this innovation.
A major project in the wind power industry. The Chinese company Mingyang is planning a wind turbine that will be taller than the Eiffel Tower. With an output of 22 megawatts, the planned turbine is far ahead of its competitors. The giant wind turbine is scheduled to be built as early as 2024.

A chip factory will soon be built in Dresden to supply the automotive industry. The initiator is the Taiwanese chip specialist TSMC. It is supported by well-known industrial partners from the relevant sectors: Bosch, Infineon and NXP. The project is being funded by the German government with up to 5 billion euros.
Soon it will no longer be a dream of the future: At the end of the year, CATL, the largest Chinese producer of lithium-ion batteries, will begin series production of the so-called Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery. It is expected to be on the road in electric cars as early as next year.

In 2022, the market for electronic security technology in Germany recorded an increase in turnover of 5.2 percent, reaching a record turnover of around 5.2 billion euros for the first time.
According to data from the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) and the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), approximately 52 percent of Germany's gross domestic electricity consumption came from sustainable sources in the first half of 2023.
The German battery market continues to grow strongly. In 2022, the market recorded an impressive increase of more than 6.2 billion euros (+62 %) to around 16.34 billion euros. Sales of lithium-ion batteries were again the main driver of this growth, amounting to 11.6 billion euros.
At the end of March, the annual meeting of the DFN (Deutscher Fachverband Notlichtsysteme) took place. This year, the conference was held in Hamburg via Battery-Kutter.
